Small Group Communion
Christ calls us to take communion “In remembrance” of Him (Luke 22:19). We serve communion from time to time in our weekend services and large group settings, but the primary place communion happens is in our small groups. Communion takes place in the groups monthly, usually on the fourth week of the month. So if you’re not plugged in to a small group, get involved. You can find out more about groups by checking out the small group webpage.

Ghosts?
On Sunday, we looked at the story of Jesus watching on water. As Jesus is approaching the disciples, the Bible says "They thought he was a ghost" (Mark 6:49) So what does the Bible teach about ghosts? Here's one perspective.

Helping Those In Need This Holiday Season
Would you like to help someone in need this holiday?
The Bible says, “He who is kind to the poor lends to the LORD, and he will reward him for what he has done” Proverbs 19:17.
The holidays are a great time to reach out to those in need. There are members of our community, and even in our own church family who can use a helping hand over Christmas.
If you would like to find out practical ways to help, check out our "Helping Those in Need" webpage.

Bible Reading Challenge at New Life
Have you taken the Bible Reading Challenge at New Life?
We want to help you become a more Bible-Centered Christian. Therefore we are challenging every member to read a chapter of the Bible each day.
The Bible is the inspired word of God, it helps us to know God and follow Him. Many of us own a Bible, but don’t have a regular plan for reading it. To help bring focus, we’ve put together a Bible reading plan that brings you through a chapter of the Bible each day. If you follow this day by day checklist, you’ll be taking the next step toward knowing more about God’s word and growing in relationship with Him.

October Giving Update
2010 Giving Report- October
How did we do in the month of October?
We fell short by a total of $7086 for the month of October.
How much does it “cost” to run the church?
It takes a minimum of $7426 a week during a “5-Sunday” month. This is the bare bones fixed costs of keeping the doors open. It allows us to pay the bills, but leaves little for actual ministry. A more ideal level of funding is $8000 a week. This allows us to pay the bills and have money for ministry.
How much was the actual giving for the month?
The giving for October averaged $6009 a week, this results in a $1417 a week shortfall from our minimim weekly budget of $7426. This added up to a monthly shortfall of $7086.
What does that mean?
It means two things - 1) We fell short of covering even our most basic costs, and 2) We needed to tap into our reserve money to pay the bills. Obviously this is not a good thing, and if it continues, we’ll have to make further cuts to an already bare bone budget.
Is there anything else I need to know?
If you’re someone who regularly gives to God at New Life:
Thanks! Your giving makes a difference.
If you’re someone who is not yet giving: Make a decision to get involved. Take the first step toward the biblical practice of giving. You can find out more about giving here.
And for everyone: Please take time this week to pray for the finances of both our church family, and the individual families that make up New Life.
Who's Your One?
At New Life we ask members the question, "Who's Your One"? This question flows from the Biblical truth that each person matters to God. Our hope is that each member of New Life would have one person they are praying for and reaching out to with the love of Christ. Take time this week to identify and pray for your "One".
