Giving + Worship

Giving is an act of worship.  It’s an opportunity to declare who God is, and what God has done.  In Deuteronomy chapter 26, God’s people would bring their offering, verbally declare God’s faithfulness, and then bow down in worship as they offered their gift.

Is your giving an act of worship?  Next time you give, pause and give thanks to God for who He is, and all He has done in your life.

Successfulness can lead to forgetfulness

“Be careful that you do not forget the Lord your God”  Deuteronomy 8:11

These are God’s instructions to a group of people who are getting ready to enter the promised land.  God’s people have spent forty years in the desert and now they are getting ready to “settle down” and own “fine homes” and see their “silver and gold increase”.  In the midst of their successfulness, God calls them to not forget the Lord.

On Sunday we studied Deuteronomy chapter 8 and our big idea was: Successfulness can lead to forgetfulness.  To hear the service go here.

Last Sunday's Message...

From a distance everybody loves the idea of the promised land, but when you get close enough to see the blessings of the promised land, you also get close enough to see the challenges involved in taking it.  God presents His people with an opportunity to possess the promised land, but as the they scout out the situation, they are convinced it’s too difficult and they bow out.  During the weekend service we learned that scary situations are an opportunity to look past our limitations and remember who God is.

Frequently Asked Questions…

What are the advantages of online giving?
Online giving is a convenient way to give.  In an increasingly paperless world, it eliminates the need to write checks and enables you to give from anywhere.

What if I try online giving and don’t like it?
There is no requirement to continue to use online giving.  It is very easy to begin or stop.

Can I give with a credit or debit card?
Yes, online giving allows you to use both credit and debit cards.  In addition, you can use your checking or savings account for online giving.

Can I schedule recurring donations?
Yes, you can specify whether you want your contribution made one time, weekly, twice per month, monthly, quarterly, or yearly. You can set up as many schedules as you would like.

**Note: When you schedule a recurring donation, a small validation amount (.11 cents) will pend to your account BUT WILL NOT be charged or post to your account.  It is only for validation purposes.  Please allow 2-3 days for this amount to disappear.

What if I need to change the amount of a recurring gift, or cancel altogether?
You can view, edit, or delete a scheduled contribution at anytime, including the credit card, date, frequency and amount as long as you created an account on the giving page.

Will I still receive a contribution statement?
You will receive an email confirmation every time you give online.  And at the end of the year the church will provide a “Year End” Giving Statement which will include both your online and in person giving.

Is online giving secure?
New Life uses “Simple Give” as our online provider.  All information is encrypted with 256-bit SSL encryption.  It is the same technology used by banks and e-commerce companies to keep your information safe and secure during transactions.

Are there any fees involved with online giving?
Not for the giver.  The church pays any fees associated with online giving.

How will my online giving transaction appear on my bank statement?
You bank statement will list a transaction from New Life Community Church.

When will contributions be taken from my account?
Contributions will be taken from your specified bank account within 48 business hours of the date you requested.  This time frame allows time for the contribution to process through your financial institution and the church’s financial institution.  If the date of your contribution falls on a weekend or a holiday, the transaction will be initiated on the next banking day.

Counseling Resources...

We desire to spiritually support our members through the different challenges of life.  Our primary vehicle for spiritual support are Life Groups.  Life Groups are a place where members can share needs, pray for each other and receive spiritual support and encouragement.

While we hope that many needs can be met in life groups, we realize that often times a member may need a trained counselor or a specialized support group to provide the needed help.  While our church does not have "in house" counseling, or specialized support groups, we can point you to local organizations that can help.

These local resources can supplement the spiritual support our church provides.  One of the organizations focuses on counseling and the other offers support groups.  To learn more, check out our Counseling Resource page.

Last Sunday's Passage...

On Sunday we looked at the building of the tabernacle.  The passage starts out by God calling His people to bring an offering.  Specifically, God issues a call to those whose hearts “prompt them to give”.  God’s appeal is those who voluntarily want to give back to the God who had delivered them from slavery with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm.

Years later, when collecting an offering to build the permanent temple, King David sees a similar generosity of the people and prays, “O Lord, God of our fathers Abraham, Isaac and Israel, keep this desire in the hearts of your people forever, and keep their hearts loyal to you.”

Take a moment to pray that our church would be filled with people’s whose hearts prompt them to give to the Lord.
