In today's edition of USA Today is an article on how the recession is effecting churches, it seems like this year has hit churches across the nation especially hard. This is certianly true for us. Our church has gone through a rough year financially. In fact we're just getting ready to send out a special letter to our members outlining our financial status. To read the letter, click here.

Mexico Christmas Outreach

Thanks to all of you who helped make this Christmas special for the children and staff at Casa Hogar in Ensenada, Mexico.

Our goal this Christmas Season to have every child at Casa Hogar supported with a gift was met and no child was left without a present. Thanks again to all of you who helped share God's love with the children of Casa Hogar!

November Giving Update

How did we do in the month of November?

We fell short by a total of $8,306 for the month of November.

How much does it “cost” to run the church?

It takes a minimum of $7,930 a week during a “4-Sunday” month. This is the bare bones fixed costs of keeping the doors open. It allows us to pay the bills, but leaves little for actual ministry. A more ideal level of funding is $8,400 a week. This allows us to pay the bills and have money for ministry.

How much was the actual giving for the month?

The giving for November averaged $5,853 a week, this results in a $2,077 a week shortfall from our minimim weekly budget of $7,930. This added up to a monthly shortfall of $8,306.

What does that mean?

It means two things -
1) We fell short of covering even our most basic costs.
2) We needed to tap into our reserve money to pay the bills. Obviously this is not a good thing, and if it continues, we’ll have to make further cuts to an already bare bone budget.

Is there anything else I need to know?

Our church helps feed those in need on the second Wednesday of each month. The holidays are a great time to reach out to those in need. There are members of our community, and even in our own church family who can use a helping hand over Christmas.

Bible Reading Challenge

Are you reading the book of 2 Chronicles?

You are if you're doing our Bible Reading Challenge. We're encouraging members to read a chapter of the Bible each day, and right now we're in the book of book of 2 Chronicles. 2 Chronicles is a historical book that recounts the continuation of David's reign through his son, Solomon, in which both father and son rule over all the land and all the people; what David begins, Solomon completes.

New Series Starts this Sunday!

Our new series "One Out of Ten" starts this Sunday, December 5th! Join us as we look at the story of Ten Lepers found in the Gospel of Luke 17:11-19.

KidzLife Movie Night & Pajama Party!

Kindergarten through 6th graders are invited to join us on Friday, December 10th from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM. Preschoolers are also welcome accompanied by an adult. Activities will include dinner, crafts, and a snack. Please stop by the information table for more details and to sign up.

Women's Christmas Dinner December 10th!

Give Online

2/3 of Americans now pay bills online. Are you one of those? If so, giving online is just as easy. You can use your banks bill pay system for your giving to God. To find out more, check out our online giving page.

Small Group Communion

Christ calls us to take communion “In remembrance” of Him (Luke 22:19). We serve communion from time to time in our weekend services and large group settings, but the primary place communion happens is in our small groups. Communion takes place in the groups monthly, usually on the fourth week of the month. So if you’re not plugged in to a small group, get involved. Ghosts?

On Sunday, we looked at the story of Jesus watching on water. As Jesus is approaching the disciples, the Bible says "They thought he was a ghost" (Mark 6:49) So what does the Bible teach about ghosts? Here's one perspective.

Jesus walks on water

We're in the middle of a series on the seven signs of Jesus as recorded in the gospel of John. This Sunday we'll look at Jesus walking on water.

Baptism this Sunday!

Join us this Sunday, November 14th to celebrate and support those getting baptized. The baptism will start at 1:30 PM at the home of the Bourbinay’s. Come out to show your support to all of those who are making this important step of faith.
