End of the World Song

The trailer for our current series includes clips from old shows and the song “It’s the End of the World as We Know It” The original song was by a band called R.E.M. The version you hear on our video is by a Christian band called D.C. Talk (pictured above). DC talk covered the song on their 1997 live album Welcome to the Freak Show.

The song goes quick so it’s hard to hear the lyrics, so here they are…

That's great, it starts with an earthquake, Birds, snakes, and aeroplanes You know I am not afraid. Eye of a hurricane, listen to yourself churn World serves its own needs, dummy serve your own needs Feed it like an aux feeds, grunt, no, strength, no Ladder starts with a clattered gear found high Wire in a fire represents a seven gauge In a government rage

Chorus:
It's the end of the world as we know it It's the end of the world as we know it It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine

That's great, it starts with an earthquake,
Birds and snakes, and aeroplanes Toby Mac has never, ever, ever been afraid Eye of a hurricane, listen to yourself churn World serves its own needs, dummy serve your own needs Feed it like an aux feeds, grunt, no, strength, no Ladder starts with a clattered gear found high Wire in a fire represents a seven gauge In a government rage
