On Mission Moment - Grounded in Christ

Our purpose as a church is to
“reach people for Christ and get them grounded, growing and on mission”.
In this post we’re going to look at what it means to be grounded in Christ. For our church, a person who is grounded in Christ, is someone who…
1) Professes faith in Christ’s finished work
Someone who is grounded in Christ experiences forgiveness of sins and salvation through Christ’s sacrificial death on the cross. They place their faith in Christ and Christ alone. They believe that his death on the cross is sufficient to cover all sins, past, present and future. (Acts 4:12, Romans 10:9, 1Peter 3:18)
2) Experiences assurance of salvation through the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit.
When we place our faith in Christ, we receive the promised gift of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is God’s guarantee that we belong to Him and are going to heaven. (Ephesians 1:13-14, 2 Corinthians 5:5, 2 Corinthians 1:22). Someone who is grounded in their faith is experiencing assurance of salvation and the presence of the Holy Spirit in their lives. (Ro 8:9)
3) Publicly declares their faith through baptism.
Someone who is grounded has obeyed Christ’s command to be baptized in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19). Our church practices “believer’s” baptism, which means that the person must be old enough to personally place their faith in Christ. Our method of baptism is baptism by immersion.
