Indiana Jones and the Plot Plan Approval

What does Indiana Jones and our plot plan approval have in common?  Archaelogy.  Believe it or not, one of the dozen county departments that sign off on our plot plan is Archaeology. Maybe it's to make sure there isn't buried treasure, or dinosaurs camped out on our land.  Anyway...we got approval from the Archaeologist!   That makes two approvals down, about ten to go.

Keep praying as our plot plan goes through the county.

Plot Plan Approval Update

Our Plot Plan is currently in the approval process with the county. Getting the plot plan approved is what gives us official permission to build our proposed church on the property.

As you can see from the screenshot above (if you have real good eyes), it will be reviewed by about a dozen different departments. Good news, we're already approved by the Fire Department!

Once each department has signed off, it will go to a Planning Director's meeting for formal approval. Please pray with us for the speedy approval of our plot plan.

Stay Up to Date -  If you want to stay up to date on the details of our approval status, you can go to this website at the planning department and enter our plot plan number - "pp23454". It will pull up the screen you see at the top of the page with an up to the minute update.

P.S.  Thanks to everyone who is giving to Growing in Faith

This Sunday "Under Pressure"

This Sunday is the start of our new series "Under Pressure" There is a lot of pressure in life: at work, at school, at home, paying bills, raising a family, making a relationship work. Join us as we look at stories from the book of Luke that show how people successfully (and sometimes unsuccessfully) handled pressure. These stories revolve around the final days of Christ's life and show how both Christ and the people around him dealt with the pressure that's part of life.

Last Sunday to Sign Up for Intro to Leadership

The workshop starts next Tuesday! This is the last Sunday to sign up. Or you can sign up by emailing us at info@newlifecommunitychurch.

Are you interested in learning more about what it means to be a leader at New Life? This learning opportunity is a starting point for exploring leadership at New Life. Our focus is to help participants...

- Understand our view of leadership
- Commit to the qualities and qualifications of a leader.
- Have the heart of a growing leader.
- Embrace the lifestyle of a leader.
- Understand the next steps to becoming a leader at New Life.

The workshop is divided into two parts. Part one focuses on a Biblical view of leadership, and inner qualities that God looks for in a leader. Part two gives an insiders view to our church’s vision for making disciples, and covers some of the nuts and bolts of how we do ministry. For more details, and for dates and times, check out here.

Spiritual Stimulus Package

“The check is in the mail” At least it will be soon. Starting this May, the government is sending out checks to taxpayers to stimulate our economy. The hope is that people will spend it and give a boost to our economy.

Many people are already planning on spending the rebates on flat screens, vacations, to catch up on bills, or pay down credit cards.

We would like to suggest one additional use. Use part of the money to lift high the name of Jesus and stimulate the spiritual condition of our community.

Here’s is what we’re suggesting. When you receive your check from Uncle Sam, take the first 10% of the amount you receive and use it for the Kingdom of God.

Maybe you know someone in need, or a local Christian organization you can support. If you are not personally aware of any specific needs, you can join with others and pool your money through the church.

If you choose to use it via the church, we will use the money received in the following three ways.

- Help people in need in our community – we will be doing this by supporting an organization called God’s Kitchen that cares for those in need in Corona. God’s Kitchen is located in downtown Corona and helps those who have fallen on hard times.

- Help people in need in our own church family – we have families in our own church who can use a helping hand. We will use a portion of the money to care for those who are part of the New Life family.

- Reach out to our neighbors in Corona Hills – We’re going to use part of any money received to do a outreach into our community to invite people to church, specifically, sending out a second mailer.

Whether you do it on your own, or through the church, consider using a portion of your rebate to share Jesus and stimulate the spiritual “economy” in our community.

Schindler's List Video

Here is the clip from "Schindler's List" we showed on Sunday. The portion of the video we showed starts at 6 minutes and 44 seconds into this longer clip.

Video from Sunday

Here is the video we opened up the service with.

How much is it worth, to point on person to Christ?

On Sunday we talked about using our "worldy wealth" to help point people to Jesus.  At the eleven o'clock service we shared several practical ways to help.

One of these is helping us send a flyer to our community inviting people to church.

It costs 30 cents to send a flyer to one home.  That means for 3 dollars you could reach ten homes.  For $30 dollar, you could reach a hundred homes.

We are hoping to send out 10,000 flyers. It will reach corona hills and part of Western Riverside.  The total cost for this mailer will be $3000.

If you would like to financially support this outreach. Decide how much you want to give, and write "outreach" on your check.

Together we can reach people for Christ.
