“the whole nation had completed the crossing on dry ground”  Joshua 3:17

God leads His people out of slavery and into the promised land.  Both when leaving bondage, and when entering the promised land, God parts the water for His people.  When leaving Egypt God divides the Red Sea, and when entering the promised land, God parts the Jordan river.  When it comes to saving us and getting us to where we need to be, God makes a way.  You can read more about the crossing of the Jordan in Joshua chapter 3 and chapter 4.

3 things that are happening on Promotion Sunday, August 7th:

1) Kidz are moving up:  We are so excited for the kids to be moving up in grades.  In some cases this may mean moving to the next age division at church.

2) Olympic Game Time for Kids:  To help kick off our Promotion Sunday, we will have some fun and cool Olympic themed games outside after both services.

3) Check-In is Moving:  We want to provide the children with a safe and secure environment.  Starting August 7th, we will move the check in resources to the classrooms.  This will also give teachers, parents and children a better chance to connect.

Proverbs 22:6 Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.

Be Strong Series (7.24.16 Message)

Be Strong and Courageous!  Sunday was the start of a five week series in the life of Joshua.  God’s message in chapter one of the book of Joshua, was “Be Strong and Courageous”.  The following are three things to remember when God calls us to do something hard or scary:

1)    God’s promises will encourage me.
2)    God’s presence will be with me
3)    God’s word will guide me

To hear the message click here.

Bible Reading Challenge

Take the challenge of reading one chapter each day, from the book of Joshua.  If you chose to accept this mission, you’ll finish reading the book of Joshua in 24 days.  God calls Joshua to “do everything written” in His word (Joshua 1:8).  Reading God’s word is a great step toward becoming a more Bible centered follower of Christ.

Mid-Year Financial Update @ New Life

We’re halfway through 2016! Here’s a quick update of where our church's finances are:

First of all...  We want to say thanks to God for providing for our church and we want to thank all who generously give at New Life.  With God’s help and your support we’ve shared Christ, done ministry, reached out to our community and improved our church building.

Now for the numbers…  For the first six months of 2016, our weekly giving fell short of our base budget by $175 a week. Obviously a short fall is not ideal, but to put it in perspective, at this same time last year our weekly shortfall was $1700 a week.  Compared to that, $175 is looking way better!  Another way to put this into perspective is to realize, that with a church of 100 people, this amount averages out to less than $2 a person, per week.  As you can see, we are really close to hitting our budget!

So thanks again to all who give, and please pray with us for God’s hand of blessing on our church's finances!

For more information on giving go to www.newlifecommunitychurch.net/giving.

New Series Starts this Sunday

This coming Sunday we’re beginning a series through the book of Joshua.  Here is a quick overview of the Biblical leader: Joshua

“He was born in Egypt, and was probably of the age of Caleb, with whom he is generally associated. He shared in all the events of the Exodus, and held the place of commander of the host of the Israelites at their great battle against the Amalekites in Rephidim ( Exodus 17:8-16 ). He became Moses' minister or servant, and accompanied him part of the way when he ascended Mount Sinai to receive the two tables ( Exodus 32:17 ). He was also one of the twelve who were sent on by Moses to explore the land of Canaan ( Numbers 13:16 Numbers 13:17 ), and only he and Caleb gave an encouraging report. Under the direction of God, Moses, before his death, invested Joshua in a public and solemn manner with authority over the people as his successor ( Deuteronomy 31:23 ).”

Small items may be dropped

off in the Mexico drop box at church

On Mission

Our purpose as a church is to...

“Reach people for Christ and get them grounded, growing and on mission.”

Someone who is on mission for Christ…

1) Makes a commitment to the body of Christ
:
Scripture says that we’re all members of one body - the body of Christ (1 Corinthians 12). Someone who is "On Mission" for Christ recognizes the importance of the body of Christ and makes a commitment to play their part as members of Christ’s church.

2) Makes a contribution to the cause of Christ:
The Bible says that Christ’s ministry is done as each person plays their part (Ephesians 4:16). Someone who is "On Mission" for Christ eagerly seeks to make a contribution to the cause of Christ (1 Peter 4:10).

3) Pursues their unique role in the mission of Christ:
God has given us each a unique life purpose in the mission of Christ. Each person is created on purpose and for a purpose. As Ephesians 2:10 says, “We are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Someone who is "On Mission" wants to discover and do those “good works” which God has prepared in advance. An “On Mission” follower of Jesus desires to understand and increasingly prioritize their life around their God-given role in the cause of Christ.

To find out more about "On Mission," check out the "On Mission" section of our website.

Roam - Week 8 (7.3.16 Message)

In Deuteronomy chapter 26, God calls his people to present an offering of their first fruits.  Prior to placing their gift before the Lord, the giver was required to declare God’s faithful work on behalf of His people.  In doing so, the giver announced that God is the one who saved them and heard their cry.  They confessed out loud that God was a God who keeps His promises.  In their declaration they recognized that everything they had came from God.

Our big idea from Sunday was:  Giving is an opportunity to declare who God is, and what God has done.
