2017 Mid-Year Financial Update

Thanks to everyone who gives to God at New Life!

We’re halfway through the year and it’s time for a quick financial update.

The good news: With God’s help and your generosity, we’ve shared Christ, taught God’s word, reached out to our community.

The bad news: Even with many generous members, we still fell short of our basic expenses by -$348 a week. To stay afloat we drained down reserves and operated on a bare bones budget.

Please take a moment to pray for God’s hand of provision as we start the second half of the year.

A shortfall of $348 is something we can overcome!

Who's Your One?

At New Life, we ask members the questions, "Who's Your One?"  This question flows from the Biblical truth that each person matters to God.  Our hope is that each member of New Life would have one person they are praying for and reaching out to with the love of Christ.  Take time this week to identify and pray for your "One", and invite them to our Sunday's services.

For more information, visit our ONE webpage here.

"In Christ" Workshop

The Bible teaches that as followers of Jesus we are “In Christ”.  Understanding our position in “In Christ” is key to realizing all that Christ has done for us.  As part of this workshop we’ll explore the Christian’s relationship to the law and the Ten Commandments.  This workshop will be on Tuesdays, August 8th, 15th, and 22nd at 7:00 p.m.  You can sign up at our info center on Sundays after service, or email us here.

7.23.17 Message

Can God create a rock bigger than He can lift?  If our answer is “no”, then it appears we’re limiting God’s power.  If we say “yes”, then we end up with a rock that appears to be greater than God.  Either way, it seems that God is caught between a rock and hard place!

On Sunday we tackled the “rock” question and discussed the nature of God.  To listen to the message, click here.

The Power of Story (7.16.17 Message)

Today, we welcomed guest speaker, David Williamson from Crossroads Church in Corona.  He spoke about "The Power of Story".  Thank you for speaking David!

There are 3 parts to Paul's story:

     1) Who he was before Christ
     2) Something happened
     3) Who he was after Christ

There are 3 parts to your story:

     1) Who you were before Christ
     2) Something happened
     3) Your life after Christ

There are 3 parts to His story:

     1) The birth and life of Christ
     2) Jesus' death and resurrection
     3) The Great Commission

His story is best known as the Gospel

So now what are we to do?
Two Things:

     1) Share your Story
     2) Share His Story

Can God create a rock bigger than He can lift?

Connecting Point

Connecting Point is a great first step to get connected at New Life.  It's a forty-five minute lunch that is designed to help you learn more about our church.  It's an opportunity to discover ways to grow, to ask questions and to meet some of our leaders.

Our next Connecting Point will meet in Room #5 on Sunday, August 13th from 12:15 - 1:00pm.  Bring the whole family and we'll bring the lunch.  You can sign up at our info center on Sundays after the services or by emailing us here.

On Mission

Our purpose as a church is to...

“reach people for Christ and get them grounded, growing and on mission”.

In this post we’re going to look at what it means to be “on mission”

Someone who is on mission for Christ…

1) Makes a commitment to the body of Christ
.

Scripture says that we’re all members of one body –the body of Christ (1 Corinthians 12) Someone who is on mission for Christ recognizes the importance of the body of Christ and makes a commitment to play their part as members of Christ’s church.

2) Makes a contribution to the cause of Christ.

The Bible says that Christ’s ministry is done as each person plays their part (Eph 4:16) Someone who is on mission for Christ eagerly seeks to make a contribution to the cause of Christ. (1 Peter 4:10).

3) Pursues their unique role in the mission of Christ.

God has given us each a unique life purpose in the mission of Christ. Each person is created on purpose and for a purpose. As Ephesians 2:10 says, “…we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do”. Someone who is on mission wants to discover and do those “good works” which God has prepared in advance. An “on mission” follower of Jesus desires to understand and increasingly prioritize their life around their God-given role in the cause of Christ.|

Go Big Series (7.9.17 Message)

On Sunday, we finished our "Go Big" series and talked about leaving a big legacy.

Five thoughts on finding a mission that matters:

1) For whom, or for what am I willing to give my
     best?
2) For whom, or for what am I willing to go the extra
     mile?
3) For whom, or for what am I willing to personally
     sacrifice?
4) For whom, or for what am I willing to ask others
     to sacrifice?
5) At the end of my life, looking back, what is it that I want to
     have done for God?

Five prayers for keeping the right heart when serving God:

1) God, help me remember who I'm doing this for.
2) God, no matter how much I do for you, help me to see it as
     a privilege.
3) God, no matter how much I give, help me to remember that
     it all comes from you.
4) God, help me to serve you with a willing heart.
5) God, keep in me the desire to serve and honor you forever.

Rent Increase

Our church just received some bad news.  Our landlord is raising our rent by $582 a month.  We’ve attempted to negotiate a lower amount, but he is adamant regarding this increase. As many of you know, this comes at a time when our finances are already strained. Our options are limited and moving to another building doesn’t make financial sense at this time.  This means, at least for now, we have to meet this increased financial challenge. Please take time to pray for God’s hand of financial provision for our church.

Life Group BBQ

One of our life Groups is having a BBQ to celebrate Independence Day on Tuesday, July 4th @ 4:00 pm.  Please contact Greg Olney for details at gregory_olney@yahoo.com

Church Offices Will Be Closed...

Our church offices will be closed tomorrow, July 4th. The office will reopen for our regular hours on Wednesday, July 5th.

"Go Big" Series (7.2.17 Message)

On Sunday, we continued our "Go Big" series and talked about worshiping a 'Big God'.

Message Points:

1) God is a big God who is worthy of our worship.
2) God is a big God who is good even when life feels
     bad.
3) God is a big God who can save us out of all our
     troubles.
4) God is a big God who can comfort us in our
     greatest needs.
5) God is a big God whose mercy is greater than our
     biggest sins.
6) God is a big God who is in control even when life
     seems to be falling apart.
7) God is a big God who is worth serving even if
     others don't.
8) God is a big God who has revealed Himself in
     Christ Jesus.
