5/18/14 Message

On Sunday we continued in 1 Corinthians 10 and considered eight questions in a Biblical Approach to Controversial Topics:
     1) Overall, is this helping me or hurting me? vs 23 “beneficial”
     2) Is this more likely to build me up or pull me down? vs 23 “constructive”
     3) Is this beginning to control my life? “mastered”
     4) What does my conscience say? “conscience”
     5) Is this activity consistent with living a life for the glory of God? vs 31 “do
it all for the glory of God”
     6) How does this affect the people around me? vs 32 “stumble”
     7) Will my participation in this activity be a hindrance to the message of
Christ? vs 33 “so that they may be saved”
    8) Is this activity consistent with following Christ and His example? vs 11:1
         “follow the example of Christ”

Do you have a question regarding a "gray area"?

Is it okay for a Christian to drink?  How about gambling? Some say “yes”, some say “no”, some say “it depends”. What does the Bible say about handling “gray” areas?  That’s the focus of our five week series “Shades of Gray”.

As part of this series we want to hear your questions regarding topics on which Christians of good conscience may disagree. If you have a question, send an email to info@newlifecommunitychurch.net and put “shades of gray” in the subject line.

Who's Your One?

At New Life, we ask members the question, "Who's Your One?" This question flows from the Biblical truth that each person matters to God. Our hope is that each member of New Life would have one person they are praying for and reaching out to with the love of Christ. Take time this week to identify and pray for your "One". For more information, visit our ONE webpage here.

5/11/14 Message

This Sunday we started our new series "Shades of Gray." 1 Corinthian 8 gives us an idea of questions to consider when deciding whether a "gray area" is right or wrong:

1) What can I know from the Bible regarding this topic? vs 4 “we know”
2) Is my knowledge based on a correct view of God and His sovereignty over all creation? vs 4-6 “no God but one” “all things”
3) Am I taking cultural associations into consideration? vs 7 “not everyone knows… they think of it as…”
4) What does my conscience say? vs 7 “conscience”
5) How does it affect the people around me? vs 9-13 “stumbling block” “fall into sin”

To listen to the message or download the full outline, visit our website.

Do you have a question regarding a “gray” area?

April Giving Report

How did we do in the month of April?
We were $1,263 under our monthly budget.

How much does it “cost” to run the church?
In a 4-Sunday month it takes a minimum of $
32,748.  It allows us to pay the bills and fund a minimal amount to our ministries.

How much was the actual giving for the month?

The giving for this month was $31,485.

Is there anything else I need to know?

If you’re someone who regularly gives to God at New Life: Thanks! Your giving makes a difference.

If you’re someone who is not yet giving: Make a decision to get involved. Take the first step toward the  biblical practice of giving. You can find out more about giving here.

And for everyone: Please take time this week to pray for the finances of both our church family,  and the individual families that make up New Life.
